Prayer Jars

A prayer jar could look like many different things. It could be a bowl or a cup if you don’t have a jar. And you could add prayers to it throughout the week or you could take prayer prompts out that you put in ahead of time. It could also look like something else entirely! Whatever would best support your prayer life.

Breath Prayer

What is a breath prayer?

It's an opening of our hearts to God through the rhythm of our breath.

A breath prayer is a short prayer that expresses a deep desire, need, thought or feeling, allowing the rhythm of inhaling and exhaling to shape, carry and express the prayer. As you speak and repeat a word or phrase silently or aloud, you allow the words to connect with the rhythm of your breath.

How to do a breath prayer:

Take some time to envision how you could use the Breath Prayer practice. Make a list of words or a phrase of Scripture that you might use, and how this could help you open your heart.

Then:

As you inhale: Breathe in God’s goodness

As you exhale: Release your frustrations and anxieties
