The Blessed Messies is a monthly parenting group that meets for fellowship, support, and learning. It will meet monthly on the first Tuesday from 5:30-7pm beginning on October 5th. Bring your dinner! Childcare will also be provided. Please sign up so we can know how many kids to accommodate and their age range.
The Blessed Messies will be reading through a book on faith and parenting to help guide our hearts and conversations. All are welcome, even if you didn’t get a chance to read the chapter(s) for that month’s gathering. Additionally, if it is easier to join from home rather than coming in to the church, Zooming in will be an option as well. You belong in the Blessed Messies if you are actively raising children and need a place to explore how God is present in your parenting journey. To be actively raising children could mean many things, such as: first time expectant parents, teen parents, 40-something parents with 10+ kids, foster parents, single parents, adults who are caring for the children of others, 20-something parents with twins, grandparents who are co- or main-caregivers of their grandkids, and anyone else who finds themselves in any other kind of active parenting role.
The Blessed Messies gatherings follow this general outline:
This group’s namesake is a book titled “Bless This Mess: A Modern Guide to Faith and Parenting in a Chaotic World” by Rev. Molly Baskette and Ellen O’Donnell, PhD. And it is this book that we will be reading.
The proposed discussion schedule is:
When you sign up, please indicate if you would like the church to order a copy of “Bless This Mess” for you or if you’d prefer to find the book on your own (perhaps on AudioBook?). We will be putting in an order on August 9th.
Contact Pastor Erika with any questions!
Sign up to let us know you're interested in joining the group! Please also sign up so we can plan for childcare needs and a group book order on August 9th.
All parents are welcome!
