Lemp Community Garden – Frequently Asked Questions

We have considered utilizing the land behind our church for a garden for several years. As Lutheran Christians we believe we have a unique call to steward (care for) the Earth and to engage with God as co-creators. We also know that many people live near our church who don't have outdoor space but who love to garden. Bringing these two things together is a perfect marriage of us having land to use and grow on and people who want to grow and tend to the Earth. Building a garden for our neighbors to use is just one more way we can care for those around us.

We are charging $15 per bed to help cover the cost of our Rent-a-can. If cost is a barrier, please contact us about a garden scholarship.

We are limiting beds to one per household with the potential to have a second or third depending on demand.

The Lemp family were founding members of Christ Our Savior Lutheran Church (COSLC) and cared deeply for creation & children. They gave a significant bequest to the church in their estate. We have sought a way to honor and remember their legacy of love and gardening. Naming this garden after them felt very fitting.
